The non-profit Global Road Safety Partnership was formed in 1999. GRSP members are leading multi- and bi-lateral development agencies, governments, businesses and civil society organizations.

The role of GRSP is to create and support multi-sector road safety partnerships that are engaged with front-line good practice road safety interventions in countries and communities throughout the world. They play a powerful role in capacity building and training of road safety practitioners, engage actively in advocacy at all levels, provide road safety programme coordination at the global level and are a recognised expert source of road safety knowledge and good practice.

On the GRSP website you can find reports on past Road Safety initiatives, open calls for funding of new initiatives world wide, resources such as crash data and good practice manuals. 

Promoting healthy and sustainable transport options prevents the negative effects of current transport patterns on human health, such as those caused by air pollution and physical inactivity. Cooperation among sectors and high-level political commitment are crucial to ensure that health issues are considered when transport policies are made.

To support healthy and sustainable transport, the World Health Organisation makes available publications, data and statistics, beste practices, guidance and tools. 

While road safety in the EU has improved greatly in recent decades (and EU roads are the safest in the world), the number of deaths and injuries is still far too high.

This is why the EU has adopted the Vision Zero and Safe System approach, to eliminate deaths and serious injuries on European roads.

The EU works closely on road safety with the authorities in its member countries. It seeks to build on national initiatives, setting targets and addressing all factors that play a role in crashes (infrastructure, vehicle safety, driver behaviour, emergency response).

It does so by adopting laws, supporting public education campaigns, helping member countries and other road safety actors share relevant experience and providing funding.
